Winter 2022

Dear Friends of the Towson Library,

We sincerely thank you for your past support of the Friends of Towson Library. In 2021, your generous past donations allowed the Friends to provide additional children and adult programming.

• In June the Friends, along with Friends from around the system, helped sponsor a virtual program with author Debbie Macomber.  During the very popular event, she read from her works, gave a talk, and answered some questions. According to Tyler Wolfe, Branch Manager, “It was a terrific event during a time when we were still getting back to something like normal”.
• With a mix of BCPL and Friends funds, a new teen space was opened in late 2021. The space has a foosball table, comfortable seating, video games, board games, crafts, and other activities. It is still a work in progress but is being well used and the teens are happy with it.

The library plans on returning to more normal programming in 2022 so hopefully the Friends will be able to support more activities.

Unfortunately, given the continued uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Friends board has decided to NOT hold the April 2022 book sale. This was a hard decision made after a careful evaluation of all the details that go into managing the sale. We cannot accept books for donation at this time either. We will keep you posted on future plans.

Last year, due to the restrictions in place because of the pandemic, all current Friends memberships were automictically renewed. With the library physically closed there were few programs for us to support and thus little need for membership dues.

Please help us continue to make the Towson Library a special place for everyone in the community. In addition to your gift, consider giving a gift of Friendship to a friend or library lover who would enjoy its mission to make the library better.
